Welcome to CHS Academic Decathlon!
Academic Decathlon is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic competition in the United States.
Our students in Academic Decathlon compete in 10 subjects: math, science, literature, social Science, economics, art, music, speech, interview and essay. We start preparing over the summer and continue until February. We have two competition days they both occur on a Saturday in late January and/or early February. During the first day of competition the students deliver their prepared speech, an impromptu speech, and they write their essay. On the second day of competition (a week later) the students take the seven subject tests and they do the live competition called Super Quiz. After the super quiz we have our awards ceremony the competing students compete for medals and money. Individual students can earn bronze, silver or gold medals in each category and for each division and cash awards for college are also given. In the end the 3rd, 2nd, and finally 1st overall schools are announce and the first place goes on to compete at the state level.
