El Alma de Clovis High was established in 1970, when a group of parents met with the school principal inquiring about a folklorico dance group.  Pat Gutierrez, as a young teacher was asked to be the advisor/director.  It progressed slowly but by the mid 70's it had developed quite a bit of experience and skill.  It became part of the curriculum in 1979 along with the marimba band.  In the early years, the group collaborated with other groups and performed on the same stage with them.  In 1990, it became part of the Danzantes del Valle, After 35 years, Mrs. Thea Fabian became the second director.  More recently, the group has been under the direction of Mrs. Dora Macias with the help of her assistant, Karen Hernandez.  Color, energy, and joy are a big part of the group's interpretation of the beautiful folkloric heritage of Mexico.  Each year the folklorico group do many performances in Fresno State, Fresno City College, Reedley College, Madera Unified Schools and Clovis Unified District Elementary Schools.

If you like to dance or meet new people, and you'd like to join our group please contact Mrs. Macias
