Originally established in 1899, CHS has a long history of excellence and tradition. Throughout its existence, Clovis High School has continued to ensure that the established culture remains a vivid reflection of its roots, while simultaneously reflecting the necessary changes to prepare 21st century learners in a technological society. Our clear focus on continuous improvement continues to result in various awards and has most recently resulted in being recognized as a Bonner Character and Gold Ribbon School Awardee in the 16-17 school year. CHS also remains a three-time California Distinguished Schools Program and two-time National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honoree and has continued to receive the Clovis Assessment System for Sustained Improvement (CLASSI) Exemplary School Award the last three years. Our fundamental educational mission is linked to our district goals of maximizing student achievement while providing a safe learning environment where character counts. In order to ensure that all students will be given every opportunity to maximize their potential in the areas of mind, body and spirit, and to enable them to become productive, contributing members of our society, CHS offers a wide variety of academic and co-curricular programs and activities. This effort includes a number of community service opportunities where we are proud to exemplify compassionate citizenship and leadership that benefit both our local community and the community as a whole through organizations such as Make A Wish, Poverello House, Marjorie Mason Center, Blue Star Mom's, Children's Hospital of Central California, and the Central California Blood Center.
As stated in our Single Plan for Student Achievement, all of our goals center on student achievement and include the focus needed to close the achievement gap among our focus-group students. Our goals also focus on providing students with the most complete exposure to, and preparation for, the world beyond the classroom. The range and diversity of our student population allows for an inclusive culture that we believe is a hallmark of our campus. Our positive climate is the product of working proactively together with our district and community to provide resources to students that focus on the development of quality human relations skills based on mutual respect for all cultures represented among our students, community and staff. At Clovis High, "Pride, Unity and Excellence" is more than a motto; it is an expectation as much as it is a way of life!
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support of our students and programs and hope that you take great pride in knowing that you are personally assisting us in preserving and expanding the "Traditions of Excellence" that have long been our trademark at Clovis High.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Hanks, Ed.D
